Respond Power Now Providing Retail Electricity to New Jersey’s PSE&G

Major Energy and its affiliate electric company, Respond Power, were recently approved by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to provide natural gas and electric services to residential and commercial customers in the deregulated (Public Service and Gas (PSE&G) service territory. This includes parts or all of the New Jersey counties if Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Morris, and Passaic.

As of December 3, customers now have the option of choosing Major Energy for their natural gas, and Respond Power for their electricity. Only variable rates are currently offered, but fixed rate plans will be available in early 2013.

Saul Horowitz, the CEO of the two companies, stated in a press release that the recent success of the company in other states has positioned the company to enter the New Jersey market. Horowitz attributed the success to a “superior level of customer service, aggressive pricing and new and innovative ideas in energy supply they have never seen before.”

Currently residential rates for electricity in the PSE&G service area are estimated to be about 10.45 cents per kWh. Respond Power’s service currently offers a rate of 8.99 cents per kWh. For the average customer, switching to Respond Power would save them 10-14% in electricity costs.

Respond Power, an affiliate of Major Energy, was founded in 2005 and provides electricity to residential and commercial customers in the deregulated electric markets of New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Maryland, and now, New Jersey.
