Understanding Your Eversource Electric Bill

There are four specific aspects of your electric bill that you should be familiar with.

Electric Delivery vs. Electric Supply

On the first page of your Eversource bill, you will see a graph depicting what portion of your total bill went towards thedelivery of your electricity vs. the supply of your electricity.

  • Delivery These charges support the delivery of electricity to your home and go to your utility provider (Eversource).
  • Supply These charges are for the electricity you used and go to your electricity provider. This may be Eversource, or it may be a retail electricity provider.

The important thing to understand about this section is that switching electricity providers only affects the supply portion of your bill. Delivery rates are the same no matter your electric provider.

You can also find your electricity supply rate in this section. This is the number that you use to compare electricity plans to see if you can save.

Your Account Information

In the top left-hand corner of the second page of your Eversource bill, you can find your account information. This includes your customer name key, account number and service reference number. If you decide that you want to switch electricity providers, you will need this information.

Bill Details

On the second page of your Eversource electric bill, you will find the bill details. This section breaks down all the different charges that go into your total electricity bill. You can also find your electricity provider and electricity supply rate in this section.

Usage History

On the first page of your electricity bill, you can find your electric usage history for the past 13 months. This shows you how much energy you used each day on average for each month of the year.

You can also find your cumulative electricity usage for each month of the year on the second page of your electricity bill.

These graphs on your electricity bill can be helpful when determining how much electricity you may use in the future, and therefore, how much you may spend.
